Prints, Patterns and Fun!

Posted on: May 16th, 2012 by enda b

Make a statement this season and jazz up your wardrobe with some fun prints and patterns.  Whether it’s head to toe or just your shoes, wearing prints will bring your look into one of the hottest trends this season!  Look for colourful florals, geometric patterns and unique stripes and have fun!

DKNY Harper Print Shoe - $235

Happy Feet

The quickest way to get on the band wagon is to grab an awesome pair of printed shoes!  One of my favourite printed shoes this season has got to be the  DKNY Harper Printed Pump for $235.  It comes in a super fun hot pink colour scheme and also a toned down nude look.  Just throw on some skinny jeans and a top with some matching hues and you’re good to go!

DKNY Runway Woven Clutch $318

Ride the Clutch

Take it to the next level and accent your look with this gorgeous clutch featured on the runways of New York.  It’s DKNY’s Runway Geometry Woven Wrap Clutch for $ 318.  Although its not printed, you still get that geometric pattern with the tri-coloured woven leather.  If you really wanna strut your stuff sport it with your hand placed through as shown above.  Pick out a colour from the pattern and match that with a solid top or dress and your set for sunday brunch with the girls.

Ella Moss Sandstone Stripe Deep V $140

Stripe It Up

This season you’ll see alot of unique striping out there.  Whether its un-even, coming in at every direction or appear soft and handbrushed you can find a stripe that suits you perfectly!  One of the most beautiful stripes I’ve seen so far is Ella Moss’ Sandstone Stripe Deep V top $140.00. The stripes are all different shades of pinks and blues and have that lovely handbrushed look. The diagonals make for a more figure flattering design.   I see this worn with solid white capris, large hooped earrings and flip flops.

DKNY Silk Floral Dress $375

Flirty Floral

Of course we need a gorgeous floral print in the mix and DKNY’s Lizzy Border Silk Floral Dress for $ 375 fits the bill perfectly.  It works well for a more busty gal who wants to draw some attention towards her other lovely assets;)  What I really like about this dress are the pockets and the drawstring!  They bring are casual feel to an otherwise dressy look.

Tilo Hand Dyed Ombre Scarve $150

Subtle Accents

If you can’t muster up the courage for full on prints and patterns then look for one of these timeless beauties.  Tilo’s Silky Gauze Ombre Hand Dyed Scarves for $150.  There are a few colour combinations to choose from.  Soft orange or grey tones.  For a little fun go for the Leopard print.  Wear on a breezy day with a light jacket or loosely tie on one of your favourite large bags to refresh your look.

Wow The Crowd!

Alright, so how many of you ladies have a wedding to go to this season and have no clue what to wear! No worries, I have a nice selection for you to choose from! I’ve got 3 silky looks for you. A cute little black dress, something fun and modern, and something bright and colourful that’ll WOW the crowd.

Feminine LBD

Seventy Abito Silk Dress $620

Let’s start with our little black dress for all you ladies out there that don’t want to stand out too much but still want to show uniqueness and a keen sense of fashion. Seventy’s Sleeveless Silk Abito Shift Dress for $620. It’s put together by a bunch of little circles that create tiny squares revealing the cream coloured slip underneath. Circle overlays are really hot this season. Perfect with a pair of ballet flats and some simple pearl earrings. I can also see this worn with a stone coloured, cropped leather jacket and ankle strapped heels for a more edgy look.

Modern Lustre

Twenty 8 Twelve Otilly Print Dress - $388

My next pick is Twenty8Twelve’s Otilly Printed Dress for $388. This silky dress comes in a soft rosé coloured base and a fun aztec like print that form diagonal lines in rusty orange and black. Aztec is usually a casual print but they’ve pulled off a fun and dressy look here with the sheen and cut of the dress. What also makes this fun are the beautifully draped gathers just below the center front waistline which I find will come in handy if you eat as much as I do at weddings! The simple neckline and cuffed, capped sleeve add the class we’re looking for. Throw on your highest heels, grab a nude clutch and some simple earrings to finish of the look. Wear this casually with a cream knitted cardi, large summer hat, and a boho bag with flip flops.

 Wow!

DKNY Elbow Sleeve Blouse $248 / Chiffon Sequin Step Skirt $328

If your looking to stand out and go for something a little different this last look will get you that and more. It’s a beautiful, silk, 2 piece ensemble from DKNY’s Spring Collection. It comes in a rich, lipstick fuchsia colour. The top is an over-sized silky, elbow sleeve blouse with a chiffon extension across the hem ($248). I can see this worn casually with white bottoms and summery sandals. The bottom is a gorgeous sequined “step skirt” (short in front, long in back) with flowy, chiffon, side extensions which you’ll find most stunning while you walk and move about ($328). I know it seems too short in the pic but keep in mind it’s on a runway model! The skirt actually falls quite a bit lower on the average person revealing the beautiful pearly matte, rectangular sequins. If its too much glam you can simply tie the chiffon extensions at center front which gives you a more subtle effect. I would pair this skirt with a simple black top and wear it out for a night of dancing!
